Discretionary Grants

Each year, we allocate a small portion of our donations for Discretionary Grants, which are intended to provide seed money for new and emerging programs that have the potential to make a difference, or to fund emergency needs that allow agencies to continue to provide services when unforeseen circumstances arise.  This allocation fund allows us to respond to opportunities that arise outside of the normal funding cycle and be proactive in supporting new programs.

In the summer of 2010, we awarded more discretionary grants than ever before.  We have funded these programs:

Mill Street Fire Fund (to support victims of the fire left homeless)

Beverly Children's Learning Center (for the Summer School Lunch Program)

Wellspring House (for the Homeless Prevention Fund)

Salem CyberSpace

Ipswich Caring

Mass 2-1-1

Harborlight Community Partners

North Shore Consortium

River House

Glen Urquhart School (for the "GAIN at GUS" Beverly Summer Enrichment Program)

Teacher Laura Day and students at the GAIN at GUS Program
