Youth volunteer at our December 2011 holiday food sorting Family Community Service Project

"I participated in the recent NSUW food pantry sort in Beverly.  It was a great experience and I loved that the kids could be involved.  As a result of our positive experience, I’ve made a donation to the North Shore United Way in honor of the teachers at my son's school."

- parent volunteer, December 2011

“I participated in the Holiday Food Sorting event in Beverly.  The event was well-organized by the very friendly United Way staff and the atmosphere was positive: the food was brought and the kids' main job was to separate the food into different types--vegetables, soups, pasta, etc.  I felt that my boys really learned that it can feel good to help others and when I asked them afterwards what they thought of the food sorting, they said in unison, ‘It was fun!’  I hope that my family and I can participate in future events held through the Family Community Service Project.  I would highly recommend it as a great way to help our community!”
