Family Community Service Projects (FCSP)

Looking for a special way to celebrate Mother’s Day?  Sign-up for one of our spring Family Community Service Projects on Mother’s Day weekend!  What better way to honor Mom than to give back to your community?

Our Family Community Service Projects (FCSP) are a huge success with families looking to volunteer together!  The FCSP connects parents looking for a chance to volunteer together with their children to local agencies in need of volunteer support.  Volunteer activities are designed to benefit both the agencies and the participating parents and children.  Agencies will include an age-appropriate education component with each event to help increase understanding and awareness of issues the agency is addressing.

Here is a snapshot of each FCSP.  If you would like to participate in any of the events or if you have questions, please contact Corinne Lippie at clippie@nsuw.org.

This is the day of the annual USPS " Stamp Out Hunger" food drive.  The Open Door receives a large volume of food that afternoon.  Parent and child teams will help The Open Door unload, sort and box up the food that is delivered by postal employees throughout the afternoon.

BEVERLY BOOTSTRAPS, BEVERLY – SATURDAY, MAY 8

Volunteer for a 90-minute shift: 3:30-5pm or 5-6:30pm

Youth Ages:  6+

# of volunteers:  10 (including parents and children) total for each 1.5 hour shift*

Beverly Bootstraps will also receive food donations collected by postal employees on this day.  Parent and child teams will help on-site at Bootstraps to unload, sort and box up the food.  Parents with slightly older children (e.g., middle school and up) can help by picking up the food from the post offices and transporting it back to Bootstraps.  These post office runs will need to happen throughout the afternoon so several teams of parents with older children can be helpful with deliveries.  Children doing these deliveries should be able to lift 40+ pounds.

* Children need to volunteer with a parent or other authorized adult.
